Sourdough French Toast

Jump to Recipe

I often find myself looking for breakfast recipes that are quick, easy, and delicious. One of our favorite recipes to make on weekends is sourdough French toast. This recipe combines classic French toast flavors with the tangy, slightly sour taste of sourdough bread, resulting in a unique and mouth-watering breakfast dish.

To make sourdough French toast, you will need just a few simple ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen. Eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt form the base of the custard-like mixture that coats the bread. We like to use thick slices of sourdough bread for this recipe, as the chewy texture and tangy flavor of the bread pairs perfectly with the rich and creamy egg mixture.

Once you have the ingredients ready, making the French toast is a breeze. Simply whisk the egg mixture together in a bowl, dip the bread slices in the mixture, and cook them on a non-stick skillet with a little bit of butter. The result is golden brown slices of French toast that are crispy on the outside and soft and custardy on the inside.

To serve, we like to top our sourdough French toast with a drizzle of maple syrup, fresh berries, and a dollop of whipped cream. The sweet and tangy flavors work together to create a breakfast that is both indulgent and satisfying. So next time you’re in the mood for a special breakfast treat, try making sourdough French toast. It’s easy, delicious, and sure to become a new family favorite.
